This Is Not My Hat
Klassen, J. (2012). This is not my hat. Boston, MA: Candlewick Press.
A little fish proudly proclaims that he has stolen a hat from a big fish. He was asleep when he did it so, he doesn’t think the big fish will notice and he won’t get caught. As he swims along in search of a place where the plants grow big and tall and close together, he encounters a crab. The crab has promised that he will not tell the big fish his whereabouts. Unfortunately, as soon as the crab makes contact with the big fish, he tells. Just as the little fish thinks he has safely arrived at his destination, the big fish appears. A short while later the big fish emerges with his hat and you can only imagine the fate of the little fish.
Klassen displays a agree example of karma in this story. It is related to all ages. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The moral of the story, you may get away with something for the moment but, it will eventually catch up to you……….Karma.
