Rapunzel’s Revenge
Hale, S. (2008). Rapunzel’s revenge. NY: Bloomsbury.
Rapunzel believes her life is perfect. But, a recurring dream haunts her, leaving her with a feeling as though something is not right. When it is revealed that she is the victim of a kidnapping, the women she has known as mother is not, and that the world outside of her walls is in distress at the hands of her capture, she sets out on a journey to seek justice and revenge for her people.
This story is a twist on and old classic beautifully done by Hale. I love that Rapunzel is not viewed as a helpless girl waiting to be rescued but rather as a confident and courageous young girl on a mission. This book is perfect as a reminder and inspiration to girls especially that they are in control of their own destiny and paving their way in life.
