It’s a Book
Smith, L, (2010), It’s a book. NY: Roaring Brook Press.
It’s a book is about a monkey who loves to read and a tech savvy jackass. Jackass stumbles upon Monkey reading a book. His curiosity is on overload. All of his questions are related to digital stuff. All of Monkey’s responses is either "it’s a book or no". Jackass decides to read the book and can’t put it down. Monkey decides to go to the library to check out another book. Jackass informs him that he will charge the book he is reading. The Monkey lift his hat to reveal a little mouse that simply states, “it’s a book jackass!
This book is absolutely amazing. The ending was very clever. It made me laugh out loud and want to share with others. With the digital and technology age so prominent in our everyday life, books can sometimes become irrelevant. Lane exhibits this but, is able to revert back to the love of reading books. The last sentence is just the icing on the cake. A must read for anyone who needs a laugh!
