Happy Pig Day!

Happy Pig Day!

Williems, M. (2011). Happy pig day. New York, NY: Hyperion Books for Children.

Piggie is overjoyed to celebrate “Happy Pig Day” with all of her friends. She shares the news with her best friend George.  Piggie is eager to celebrate the day with other pig friends too. Unfortunately, George does not have the same enthusiasm as Piggie. He feels left out and goes through a meltdown. Piggie explains that “Happy Pig Day” is not just for pigs but anyone who loves them. His other animal friends reveal they are in disguised. George is relieved and is able to enjoy the celebration with his friend.

Happy Pig Day, is a fun story about acceptance. Mo Williams delivers that theme in a humorous  and kind way that is relevant to all ages. This is a great short story to teach a lesson on acceptance no matter your differences.
